Winnipeg – Manitoba – Canada

Winnipeg er en by i Canada med 705.244 indbyggere. Byen er hovedstad i Manitoba og benævnes ofte som "Porten til Vesten". Med sin beliggenhed næsten midt i Nordamerika, hvor de vidtstrakte prærier findes. Byens oprindelse daterer sig tilbage til 1738, hvor franskmændene opførte en forpost på stedet. Denne blev dog forladt igen, men forskellige andre forposter opførtes i området til støtte for handelen organiseret af Hudson's Bay Company. I begyndelsen af det 1800-tallet blev et fort beliggende tæt på det nuværende Winnipeg efterhånden det vigtigste i området. 

Navnet "Winnipeg" stammer fra cree-sproget og betyder "mudret vand". Navnet blev overtaget fra søen af samme navn, der dog ligger cirka 60 kilometer nord for byen.

Churchill – Manitoba – Canada

Churchill er en by i det nordlige Manitoba, Canada, på vestkysten af Hudson Bay, omkring 140 km (87 mi) fra grænsen mellem Manitoba og Nunavut. Den er mest berømt for de mange isbjørne der bevæger sig mod kysten fra indlandet om efteråret, hvilket fører til kaldenavnet "Verdens isbjørnehovedstad", der har hjulpet dens voksende turismeindustri.

A Polar Bear trap. When the Polar Bears enter the town and wont leave, they need to be trapped so they can be removed to a safer place on the Tundra.

Miss Piggy plane wreck. The plane crashed on 13 November 1979 as it attempted to return to the Churchill airport shortly after takeoff. It had an engine problem. All survived.
